Tony Gibson will again call the shots for driver Ryan Newman and the #39 U.S. Army Chevrolet during the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. As crew chief, Gibson led Newman to a ninth-place points finish last year and a berth in the prestigious Chase for the Sprint Cup championship format. The stellar 2009 season for Newman and the Army team also included five top-fives, 15 top-10s and two poles. Gibson brings a high level of leadership and experience to the Army team, which has been developed through his work in the Sprint Cup garage since 1986. He's been a part of three Cup title-winning teams -- two with Jeff Gordon in 1998 and 2001 and one with the late Alan Kulwicki in 1992.

Up to 10 crew members stay behind the wall during pit stops, and they're responsible for all aspects of the tires, engine performance and mechanical system maintenance. At race time, seven pit crew members go "over the wall," and they include:

Responsible for fueling the car during pit stops and also calculates fuel mileage during the race.

Attaches the over flow catch can to the fuel vent during pit stops to catch any fuel that will overflow during the fueling process (a safety measure to keep spilling fuel from being ignited during pit stops).

Carries tires over the wall to assist the tire changer during pit stops, will also assist with chassis adjustments during pit stops.

Changes right and left rear tires during pit stops.

Will jack the car up for tire changers during pit stops.

Changes right and left front tires during pit stops.

Carries tires over the wall to assist the tire changer during pit stops.
