Medical-Surgical Nurse (66H)
Active Army Medical-Surgical Nurse

When you become a medical-surgical nurse on the U.S. Army Health Care Team, you'll have the opportunity to focus on the care of our nation's Soldiers and their Families. As an Officer on our multidisciplinary team, you'll be working with the most advanced technology, alongside professionals who share your passion for providing the very best care.

Requirements include:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, or accepted by the U.S. Secretary of Education
  • Must be between 21 and 42 years of age (may request a waiver)
  • Current, valid and unrestricted nursing license
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
Benefits include:
  • Army Nurse Accession Bonus
  • Health Professions Loan Repayment Program, which can be applied toward qualified nursing school loans
  • Paid continuing education, including clinical specialization courses

Army Reserve Medical-Surgical Nurse

As a medical-surgical nurse and Officer on the U.S. Army Reserve Health Care Team, you can work in your community and serve when needed. The new skills you develop will enhance your ability to provide the best patient care. Most importantly, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary team, surrounded by dedicated professionals who share your commitment to helping our Soldiers and their Families.

Requirements include:
  • Associate degree in nursing from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, or accepted by the U.S. Secretary of Education
  • Must be between 21 and 42 years of age (may request a waiver)
  • Current, valid and unrestricted nursing license
  • Permanent U.S. residency
Benefits include:
  • Special Pay
  • Reimbursement of nursing school loans through the Healthcare Professionals Loan Repayment Program
  • Paid continuing education
